scholarship eligibility

Thank you to all our 2026 Scholarship Applicants!


Qualified recipients should be high school graduates in Rensselaer County, NY who wish to study agriculture or a related discipline. We seek applicants who share our values of hard work, discipline, education, and commitment to family and community. Upon receipt, this award will be distributed directly to the recipient.


To be considered, you must have resided in Rensselaer County for at least two years prior to applying; earned a GPA of 3.0 or better in the previous two years of your education; and plan to major in coursework or pursue a trade related to Agriculture. Examples include, but are not limited to, skilled trades such as horticulture, pre-veterinary studies, food science, welding, diesel mechanic, etc.

   

Applicants must be accepted at a college, university, vocational or trade school located in New York State.

2026 scholarship recipients

Bridget Gutierrez

Bridget Gutierrez was awarded $1,000 toward her pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business at SUNY Cobleskill. Bridget is a 2026 graduate of Tamarac High School with an outstanding academic record, and many extracurriculars including 4-H, SADD, and Key Club. With a lifelong exposure to farming through her family's work and many years working with livestock in 4-H, she demonstrates a sincere passion for agriculture. Congratulations Bridget!

Maya Ryan

Maya Ryan was awarded a $500 scholarship toward a Bachelor's Degree in Baking Arts and Service Management at Paul Smith's College. Maya is a 2026 graduate of Hoosic Valley High School with a passion for culinary arts and baking, with a focus on sustainable agriculture, local products and foraging, and farm-to-table cooking. She has an extraordinary academic resume and relevant work experience, and brings a unique perspective on agricultural studies. Congratulations Maya!

2025 scholarship recipient

Luke Hoag

Luke Hoag was awarded $1,000 toward his pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and Agricultural Business at SUNY Cobleskill. Luke is a 2025 graduate of Hoosick Falls High School with an extensive resume of relevant experience and community service. He is President of the Hoosick Falls FFA chapter and Stateline Livestock 4-H Club, and has been an avid fundraiser for Make-a-Wish for many years. Congratulations Luke!

2024 scholarship recipient

Connor MacNeil

Connor MacNeil was awarded $1,000 toward his pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business Management and Dairy Science at SUNY Cobleskill. Connor is a 2024 graduate of Hoosick Falls High School with an exemplary academic record and many extracurricular activities, including football, basketball, baseball, Math Club, National Honor Society, and Key Club.  He is active in 4-H, FFA, Holstein Association, and has a long family history of farming in Rensselaer County.

2023 scholarship recipients

Emilee Valade

Emilee Valade was awarded $1,000 toward her pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering Technology at SUNY Cobleskill. Emilee is a 2023 graduate of Hoosic Valley High School with experience in heavy equipment operations and maintenance, and related certifications.

Andrew Stratton

Andrew Stratton was awarded a $500 scholarship toward his certification at Modern Welding School in Schenectady. Andrew is a 2023 graduate of Hoosick Falls High School with many years of participation in 4-H, and is a champion trap shooter for his high school team.
